چکیده

Traditional networked file systems like NFS do not extend to wide-area due to network latency and dynamics introduced in the WAN environment. In this paper we proposed the design of a wide-area networked system called WireFS. WireFS is based on NFS and extends to the WAN environment by introducing a file redirector infrastructure residing between the central file server and clients. The file redirector infrastructure is invisible to both the central server and clients so that the change to NFS is minimal. This makes the interruption to the existing file service minimized when deploying WireFS on top of NFS. We show through extensive simulations that even in a WAN setting WireFS achieved comparable performance to NFS’s LAN performance. We discuss the details of WireFS implementation in the context of meta-data and data access management, and the trade-offs in the designs.

Design of Observer-based H∞ Controller for Robust Stabilization of Networked Systems Using Switched Lyapunov Functions

In this paper, H∞ controller is synthesized for networked systems subject to random transmission delays with known upper bound and different occurrence probabilities in the both of feedback (sensor to controller) and forward (controller to actuator) channels. A remote observer is employed to improve the performance of the system by computing non-delayed estimates of the sates. The closed-loop s...

Robust Model for Networked Control System with Packet Loss

The Networked Control System in modern control widely uses to decrease the implementation cost and increasing the performance. NCS in addition to its advantages is inevitable. Nevertheless they suffer of some limitations and deficiencies. Packet loss is one of the main limitations which affect the control system in different conditions and finally may lead to system instability. For this reason...

Designinga Neuro-Sliding Mode Controller for Networked Control Systems with Packet Dropout

This paper addresses control design in networked control system by considering stochastic packet dropouts in the forward path of the control loop. The packet dropouts are modelled by mutually independent stochastic variables satisfying Bernoulli binary distribution. A sliding mode controller is utilized to overcome the adverse influences of stochastic packet dropouts in networked control system...

Minimizing Metadata Access Latency in Wide Area Networked File Systems

Traditional network file systems, like NFS, do not extend to wide-area due to low bandwidth, high network latency, and dynamism introduced in the WAN environment. Metadata access latency is a significant performance problem for Wide Area File Systems, since metadata requests constitute a large portion of all file system requests, are synchronous, and cannot be cached at clients. We present Wire...

Design Supplementary Controller Based on Stabilizing Effect of Delay for Damping Inter Area Oscillations in a Power System

The delay associated with signal transmission through the wide-area measurement system reduces the functionality of the power oscillation damping control system. One of the important issues is the poor operation of the supplementary controller against delay existence, which limits the efficiency of damping of ancillary equipment, such as SVCs in a power system. This paper as a solution proposes...
